Pablo, the son of Candido and Christina, was born on April 1,
1972, in Dania, Florida. He has a happy childhood until the age of 11 when his
parents separation and ensuing divorce effect him deeply. Pablo stayed with
his mother, the woman he has always revered, and his younger brother, Michael.
They remained in Dania for a time.
In 1984
his mother was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Unfortunately the illness
recurred and after several years of terrible suffering, caused her death in
1998. (Christina passed a few months after the first trial has been held.)
Keen
on sport, at the age of 15 Pablo began, although not in a continuos way,,
to play Jai-Alai. From 1990 to 1993 he lived with his father, Candido and stepmother,
Paula in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. While working at the Pelota court car-park
in Hartford, Connecticut, Pablo started to train for the Basque game of Jai-Alai.
He then spent a time attending a college in Huntington Beach, California, where
he became part of the school football team.
Once
Pablo returned from California and after spending the summer in Florida, he
continued training for the sport that allowed him to begin to match the steps
of his father. Unfortunately, with only a few months to go until his professional
debut, he suffered a face injury (due to a ball impact) and was forced to temporarily
give up playing. He moved back to Florida with his ill mother after the injury.
It was in the following months when the horrific course of events took place
that forever marked the future of Pablo's life.

THE
FACTS:
A triple crime occured on June 26, 1994, in Miramar, Florida when a man
and his two female visitors were murdered. A hidden security camera recorded
the twenty-two minute scene of two unknown individuals who, with faces covered,
burst into the living room of the man, search for something in vain and then
murder all three people.
Three weeks later Pablo was arrested and connected to the triple crime.
He was incriminated because of his resemblance to one of the murderers whose
image had been copied from the video tape. The individual who Pablo resembled
kept his head covered with a tee shirt almost the entire time that the crime
took place. The unknown assailant removed the tee shirt for a moment. That moment
was also recorded by the video, but the quality of the image was very poor.
It is impossible to identify the person, however, a photograph was obtained
from the image and after being manipulated it was used as the main piece of
evidence to accuse and condemn Pablo.
Seth Penalver and Pablo's joint trial began with jury selection in April 1997. The trial ended after nine months of deliberations on December twenty ninth of that same year. Due to the lack of pertinent evidence this trial ended with a hung jury. That event brought about a second and third trial that did not take place until three years later.
Tanya married Pablo in prison in April 1998. Tanya, who had been Pablo's girlfriend since she was a teenager, has always maintained that Pablo was with her on the evening the murders occurred. She says very freely and simply then and now, "PABLO IS INNOCENT!"
The second trial starts in April 1999, but has to be postponed because of the personal problems of Pablo's defense attorney. It was then determined that Pablo and Seth Penalver would be tried separately. Seth's trial was carried out and he was found guilty and condemned to death.
A year later, April 2000, Pablo's second trial began. Although none of the DNA tests, hair analysis or fingerprint samples taken at the crime scene match with Pablo's samples, he was also found guilty and condemned to death!
Pablo's Story doesn't end here but continues on... It
continues on in his six foot by nine foot hell on earth... It continues on in
the heart and soul of three families in two different countries... It continues
on in the new investigations of several dilegent reporters from Spain... It
continues on through the tenacious work of friends in places like California,
Nevada, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia and Florida in the US... It continues
on in the true spirit of caring and giving from every corner of EVERY Province
in Spain...
